Put the phone on a tripod or lean it against something steady, behind or beside the table, so both players and the whole table are in view. Keep the sound on: Patemo finds rallies by listening for the ball. Choose a spot away from neighbouring tables if you can, with enough light. Ask the people you film whether they agree.

Tap Add from Photos or Add from Files and pick the video. Patemo copies it into its own library and only reads the original. It checks for free space first, and a cancelled or failed import leaves nothing half-copied behind.

Any video your phone or tablet can play, such as MOV or MP4. Patemo keeps its own copy, so a long match in 4K takes a lot of storage. It reads the frame rate, size, rotation and whether there is sound from the file itself.

Patemo recognises a file it has already imported and keeps the existing match instead of making a second copy. That keeps your corrections and labels in one place.

Some videos carry no recording date, for example after they were sent through a chat app. Patemo then shows the import day and marks the date as unknown. Open Match details to set the day you played, or confirm the date shown. Until then the match does not count after a goal.

It listens to the sound of the video for the ball hitting the table and the bat, on your device, and groups those sounds into rallies with a little time before and after. It uses no AI model and nothing is uploaded. Each run is saved with the version and settings that produced it.

Neighbouring tables, a soft ball contact, music, talking or a phone far from the table all make the sound harder to read. Every rally is a suggestion: add the one it missed, split two that were joined, or trim a start or end.

A suggestion is marked doubtful when Patemo is less sure of it or when it is longer than a normal point, which usually means two rallies were joined. It is a place to start checking. The other suggestions are not confirmed either until you look at them.

Select it on the timeline, then trim its start or end, split it at the playhead, join it with the next one or delete it. Add a rally the detection missed at the playhead. Every change can be undone and redone, and is saved straight away.

No. Running the detection again keeps every rally you added, trimmed or labelled and only replaces suggestions you have not touched.

Yes. Patemo tells you it cannot find rallies without sound, and you can mark each rally yourself at the playhead. Everything else works the same.

The Patemo team wrote them for the eight situations in the evidence route: 16 so far, each with a goal, setup, steps and a way to tell whether it worked. The table diagrams show an example ball path, not measured ball flight. A qualified coach has not reviewed them yet; the app says so.

When you set a goal, Patemo keeps the numbers you start from. Later it compares them with matches you played after that day, in the same format (singles or doubles), on the same counting rules. You see both counts and both ranges. It shows change, not what caused it.

The goal lists every match it leaves out and why: played before the goal, date unknown, or a different format. Open the match and set or confirm the day you played in Match details.

The goal was set with an older version of Patemo’s counting rules. Comparing numbers counted in two different ways would mislead you, so the app shows no comparison for that goal.
